Abrasive blasting is the process of smoothing, shaping and cleaning a hard surface by forcing solid particles across the surface at high speed. Although it is often referred to as sand blasting the process is actually called abrasive blasting and sandblasting is a different practice that is no longer carried out.
The effect is similar to using sandpaper, but provides an even and clean finish leaving the metal or surface ready for spray painting or protective coating.
